Minutes of meeting held on 5 September 2013

At York NHS Sports & Social Club

With 27 members and guests present

A minute’s silence was observed for Noel Madden and John Ibbotson – ex members who sadly died during the close season.

Apologies were received from Mssrs Smith; Milburn; Hartley; Thorpe; Boothman; Godson; Blakey; Bishop; Simpson; and Shiers.

Minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted, matters arising, a report was given on Don and Joan Thorpe.

Correspondence from RA; RA Draw; Rob Rich; was read.

Reports were given regarding Conference, Cricket; Refs course, meeting with Greg Dyke.

Appeals for refs, Gordon Staniforth asked for officials to help out at York College Girls Centre of Excellence(various age groups) and College matches on a Saturday am and Wednesday. York Play Football at Clifton Moor were also looking for refs.

Supplies Joe Ballantyne said he can get Nike kit through the RA at competitive prices, just ask.

Membership stands at 62, it was pleasing to see that there had been payments made on line

The Annual Dinner will be held on March 29th at Park Inn,

The evening’s Guest, Graham Laws ex FL official now PGMOL Referee coach then gave a presentation on his role answering questions and queries along the way. This proved popular as he never finished his power point display when time was called at 9.45.

There being no AOB, meeting closed at 9.50.

Minutes of the AGM held on 2nd May 2013

A minute’s silence was held for Rosemary Fawcett, wife of life member Colin and ex member George Revely.

Apologies were received from Mssrs Bishop, Bradbury, B & J Ballantyne, Godson, Sutton, Butcher, G Ellwood, Blakey, Simpson, Hawksby and Ms Humphrys.

Minutes of last AGM were read and accepted with no matters arising.

Secretary’s Report, was given and accepted. Congratulations given to Jonny Ham on his level 4 promotion.

Treasurer’s Report was given and discussed, pig race night was a tremendous success. Thanks given to treasurer and Dave King for keeping all in order.

Election of Officers, Don Thorpe requested to stand down as CRA delegate, B Smith said he would stand. There being no other nominations for any positions it was passed to vote the following en bloc; President/Sec Ian Hotchkies; Chairman /Treasurer John Ledgeway; Vice chair Paul Ballantyne; Training Officer David King; Committee Peter Cook, Joe Ballantyne; Dave Milburn; Geoff Hartley; Glyn Ellwood; Sam Bayley; Brian Smith. Ex Officio Anthony Thornton; CRA Delegates, Ian Hotchkies, David King, Paul Ballantyne, Brian Smith. York FA Reps David King, Graham Bradbury. Auditor Ron Price.

A.O.B. there was a discussion on how to stop the fall in membership.

Minutes of 2 May Meeting

Minutes of the meeting held on 2nd May 2013
at York Hospital Social Club

19 members present

The chairman welcomed all to the meeting.

Apologies were received from Mssrs; G Ellwood, J&B Ballantyne, R Simpson, G Bradbury, B Bishop, A Godson, C Sutton, M Butcher, A Blakey, N Hawksby and Ms A Humphrys

Minutes of the last meeting were read, with no matters arising

Correspondence from the RA, M Maine, P Joslin & G Bradbury was read

Membership stood at 24 with hopefully a few paying on the night. Subs are due at £22 and increasing to £25 in October. £11 for junior members. An added incentive is an included benefit of free legal aid insurance through the RA (worth £30-50 on your policy) this covers pleasure/ business and refereeing. Subs can now be paid online through the web site.

Reports were given regarding Colin Fawcett and Don Thorpe

Dinner – Tony Thornton gave a report. Feedback was asked for and any ideas that the members have do not hesitate to air them

Social Club, subs were due, still some outstanding and club are hoping that more of our members will join.

Cricket 14 July at Acomb CC and 17th July at Norton College.

Problem Corner, B Smith asked for guidance when Sat League sec contacted him regarding a player who had been taken to A&E by secretary after the match and did not send in the score. Our job is during the 90 mins and clubs do not require to tell ref who goes to hospital. Brian told of a player who did suffer facial injuries during the match.

York RA Web Site Sam Bayley and Dave King went through the web site which had links to all forms etc required. Thanks were given for all work put into this

Minutes of 4 April Meeting

Minutes of meeting held on 4th April at York Hospital S.C.
With approx 27 members and guests present.

The chairman welcomed all to the meeting.

Apols were received from Mssrs; M & G Ellwood, B Ballantyne,R Simpson, G Bradbury, G Boothman, M Smith, G Hartley.

Minutes of last meeting were read, matters arising. Refs should reports match misconduct
incidents, as more had arisen since last meeting

Correspondence from Saturday League re. Respect markings and payment of fees re Premier Div.

Membership stood at 65 for the year. Subs will be due after 31 March. £22 now and increasing to
£25 in October. £11 for junior members. An added incentive is an included benefit of free legal
aid insurance through the RA (worth £30-50 on your policy) this covers pleasure/ business and
refereeing. Subs can be paid online shortly through the web site.

Lol Cussons Evening A Thornton gave a report on an enjoyable evening

A.GM. anyone interested in being on the committee, give names and seconder to secretary in
writing.

Social Club, subs were due, still some outstanding and club are hoping that more of our members
will join.

Problem Corner, There was a long discussion on the correct procedures for penalty deciders. What
happens when two players of the same side collide and injure themselves, they do not have to leave the field of play.

The evening’s guest , Barry Sygmuta, a level 3,4,5 coach gave a very interesting presentation entitled Expectations. Using video clips from Scarboro and Blyth with officials we knew. There was plenty of interaction and discussion.

A.O.B, Elliot Shiers gave details of fitness sessions being organised. J Suchecki mentioned that
York, Humberside and W Yorks Supply leagues will be pooled next season

Minutes of 7 February Meeting

 Minutes of meeting held on 7th Feb at The NHS Sports and Social Club
With 29 members and guests present

A minute’s silence was observed for Bryan Shearer a referees friend and member of York & District League, York FA and former player who passed away.

G Bradbury recounted a humorous episode of a disciplinary meeting Bryan sat on that Graham was involved in.

Apologies were recieved from Mssrs; P Ballantyne,G Hartley;Simpson; Sucheki; Thorpe; Butler; M Smith, P Hartley who arrived later.

Minutes of the last meeting; were read and accepted. No matters arising.

Correspondence; regarding Tony Kennedy was read.

Pig Racing Evening; Report was given regarding a very enjoyable and profitable evening. Thanks were given to all who were involved.

Details were given; of the annual dinner 6th April and Lol Cussons evening 15th March.

Subs for season 13/14, were set at £25, if paid before end of Sept this will be reduced to £22. Subs were also due for the Social Club.

Membership; now stood at 65.

FA Cup Final Tickets; an allocation had been applied for. Names in writing to secretary.

Brendan Bishop; gave details of a tournament in May/June, appealing for refs.

Problem Spot, there was discussion on the habit of goalkeepers and refs in televised matches with same colour shirts. Also players wearing gloves of different colours, considering the recommendation involving undershirts/shorts, tape and ankle supports.

Due to late backword, from the evenings guest, Dave King arranged a quick group quiz of match situations/incidents. Thanks were given to Dave at the end
