Lol Cussons Evening – 6 March

6 March 2020 – St Clement’s WMC (South Bank)

The 10th event (Yes, 10 years) will be held on Friday 6 March 2020 when all referees are invited to attend and support the evening.

This event is to celebrate Lol Cussons (ex-member), organised and funded his family (Dave and Karen Cussons).

In 2019 there was food, entertainment, raffle and even bingo, as we remembered Lol (he never used red/yellow cards, he just handed out Polos).

A presentation is made for the Lol Cussons Award for the referee of the year.

The Cussons family also make a presentation to York RA to support referees.

The work of David and family are much appreciated, so come along and support the event

Reg Baren

Life Member Ernest “Reg” Baren died in York Hospital after a short illness, on 29 August 2019, aged 98 years

Reg was a stalwart member of York RA

He became Vice Chairman in 1965-66 and was Chairman for 1966-67 as well as being a delegate to York FA from 1968-1980

The funeral is being held at the Holy Evangelist Church , Shipton-by-Beningbrough on Tuesday 17 September at 11am

Our condolences go to the family at his time

I am pleased to confirm that following the review of our CORE programme, we will be working with the following breakdown of 63 Referees:

Referee Registration 2019 – 20

Finally, we are working hard to complete the annual Referee registration renewal process, and to date, we have just short of 260 Referees completing the process which is slightly up on this time last season

RA Development Weekend

The RA’s annual Development Weekend will be held on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July 2019.  This is a great two days of education, training, and development – we have challenged your Local and County RAs to arrange a mini-bus… your own Local RA has ample time to plan!  Saturday will host both the RA AGM and observer workshop, as well as the RA-FA Youth Council Practical Day, along with the RA’s Annual Presentation Dinner in the evening. The Development Workshops will be held on Sunday morning and afternoon.

This year the event will be held at De Vere Horwood Estate in Milton Keynes with the practical sessions being held at Mursley FC.

Booking opens on the 1st February and prices start at £10 – the most affordable RA Development Weekend ever!

RA Development Weekend

Sat/Sun 6/7 July 2019

This years RA Development Weekend is now available to book through the RA

It is being held at the De Vere Horwood Estate Hotel,  Milton Keynes; with practical sessions on 6 July at Mursley FC

The theme for the weekend is “Good to Great”

As well as the Indoor Development Day (7 July) there is an Observer Workshop, Awards Dinner and AGM

A must for referees willing to learn from high profile speakers; the cost is minimal unless you wish to stay overnight

Tony Jerrum

It is with regret that we announce the passing of ex-member Tony Jerrum, on 3 January 2019 at York Hospital, aged 88 years

His funeral was in Haxby on 29 January

Tony and his wife were regular attenders at the RA Conference along with Don Thorpe and Harry Craven

Tony was always cheerful and refereed at local level

John McCarthy

York RA are saddened to announce the passing of John McCarthy. John was Chairman of York RA between 1982 and 1983 and will be remembered fondly by his contemporaries.

Our thoughts are with John’s loved ones at this sad time.

John’s funeral will be at 1pm on Monday 8 October, at York Crematorium.
